Famine camp

JY, BH, KP n me, and some of my secondary schoolmates-->kaka, CW, SY, Ros, Camellia, KY, KK., had decided to take part in the famine camp, organized by World Vision, Sin Chew Daily n Guang Meng daily, sponsored by Nesh, which requires all participants to fast for 30 hours. All participants have to collect a donation of atleast RM100 in order to take part in the camp. It was held in Stadium Juara from 27th May, 12noon, till 28th May, 6pm.

V had dim sum as breakfast be4 v head to the stadium. Reached the stadium at 11.25am. Our group had 17 members and most of us got along quite well. The slogan of the camp was “Hug knowledge, stay away from poverty” (direct translation from Mandarin). Had some talks, games, documentary, movie, and singing sessions by some Malaysian singers and cafes’ singers.

There were 10 reasons being told that y v should fight against poverty.
1. There r more then 1,000,000,000 people in the world are living with less then USD1dollar a day.
2. There are 50% human in the world (2,800,000,000) survive with less then USD2dollars per day.
3. Since year 1992, problem of lacking of food has increased more then 100%.
4. There are 300,000,000 children starving.
5. There are 29,000 children under the age of 5, die due to lack of nutrient, everyday.
6. Among 1,900,000,000 children in developed countries:
640,000,000 don’t have a place to stay in. (1 out of 3)
400,000,000 don’t have clean water to drink (1 out of 5)
270,000,000 don’t have medical treatment. (1 out of 7)
7. There are 122,100,000 children don’t attend formal education.
8. There are 40,000,000 HIV carrier/ AIDS patients in the world.
9. There are 15,000,000 children become orphans due to the affect of AIDS.
10.Since 1990, 90% of the common people die in wars. (80% are women and kids)

Overall, it was not too bad…n v din actually feel very hungry, as the stomach immunes to it after the few hours, n the programs which divert our attention. I realized that the camp brought us a message which reminds us that, we are so lucky to own what a beautiful lifestyle, n we should appreciate what we have in our life. Share our love especially to those who r not as lucky as us, n try our best helping them, giving them a bigger chance for their brighter future.

Our theme song à Life cannot wait (direct translation)

My 20th birthday

My friends had been planning 4 the celebration 4 atleast a week, thank you very much....so happy n contented to hav u guys in my circle of friends. V went to BBQ king in serdang(steamboat n frying) 4 dinner on 20th. There were altogether 8 ppl, TK, WY, JY, BH, MF, KP, 1+ n me. The food did not taste very nice, 50% due to our cooking skill, haha, but v still enjoyed our meal there... made a lot of noise....on any stupid topic...omg, JY gav me a present--shared by almost every1, which is a T-pack....orange in colour, with a picture of some sort of carton with eyes on it... i was like... huh.... n i was told that it cost RM60....i was like more....huh...omg, i rather u giv me nothing, but save it in your bank.( but actually it was only rm3.90) However, i am still happy to receive it as it will be a great memory 4 me, althougt i will definitely not wearing it. When it was time to go, I saw WY taking out her purse, knowing that they were going to pay for the meal, but as the birthday girl, i had decided to spend 4 the meal, so i rushed out with my beg, n got ready to make payment if WY move towards the counter...but her reaction was like...eh?wat happen? where r u going... pretending innocently, so i act as nth happen as well, n said, haha...just wanna get some fruits.....Finally found out that i was being cheated as the waiter told me that they had paid when i asked 4 the bill....they purposely diverted my attention n made the payment...ermmmmm...........thank you!!!
After the dinner, v went to Redbox in Sungai Wang Plaza. Karaoke session from 12am to 4am...there were 6 of us, as MF n 1+ could not make it in the midnight. Having some great time there, JY was damn high, choosing a lot of songs, but ended up WY n I sang most of the part as she did not remember the lyrics...haha, KP was singing the songs filling with his own lyrics----dunno wat--cha siew pao has cha siew...etc.... BH fell into sleep, as he has golden mouth (dun sing at all), TK sang a few songs, while WY n I busy with dedicating songs 4 them as only both of us know Chinese. JY took out a gift box, passing it to me, saying that that was the "real " present 4 me....wau, surprise!!! They r a pants n a skirt---which i mentioned that i like when i went shopping with JY....wau, really like that....(n they fit me quite well). Then 2 cakes (KP bought 1, n redbod package included 1) was brought in by the waiter, sang birthday song, n made wish....normal birthday routine...yeaks, played till hair also got cream....haha....received a few calls n sms from friends, thanks! This time finally grabbed the chance successfully to make the payment..haha...oh ya, must thx WF too, 4 the present...haha

The next day, 21st, received LG's call, a friend studying in Japan ....wau....so surprise to received her call, thx!! Then i had dinner in Wong Kok restaurant in Citrus Park with CW, kaka, SC, SK2, n HC. HC, CL, SC n CW bought me a CD--Rachmaninov piano concerto by Lang Lang while SK2 n kaka bought me a tiramisu cake...wau, 3rd cake...haha....Thx every1 4 the presents. The restaurant served us a super big size hong kong style nai cha, as a birthday gift, it was so big, but 50% was filled with ice cubes...haha....oh ya, received another call from a good friend studying in UK, WC, thx very much !!!ermm, i spent 4 the dinner, n went home after that. Thx to my family members too, 4 the gifts n also cash...haha.....
Thank you once again to my friends n family members.

Sorry.

DIPLOMA or DEGREE?

DIPLOMA or DEGREE?
Since many people asked me bout the difference between diploma or degree in music course, n many think that v can only do a degree after diploma in music course, i decided to copy this blog from "theimperialsnake"-----> " www.theimperialsnake.blogspot.com." ermmm....hope he wont sue 4 infringing his copyright ....haha....
Pls note that Italid words are added by myself.

"I have been explaining this to most of my advanced students on the difference between a diploma and a degree in music. And I think I want to explain it (again) here in my blog to those who are interested about music education, whether you are a parent, a music student, or just a general music lover.Diploma is offered by music colleges, music conservatoires, music academy while degree is offered by universities. If you ambition is to become an excellent performer, or you just love performing and would like to challenge yourself to perform a very advanced repertoire, then take the diploma because diploma examinations major in practical more than theory. A degree, however, is for those who wants to have a qualification in music but do not have strong command in playing the instrument (not necessary, a degree holder can play a instrument well too, but they do focus a lot on the history, theory n general knowledge or different culture, a 2nd instrument....etc ---my own opinion) or maybe you just want to become a lecturer or a teacher. I have a friend, who is a degree holder, Bachelor in Music, she tried to take the DipABRSM examination and failed very badly. "

"I have heard many stories from students, parents, and music teachers where music teachers with degree lack in the skill of teaching but I'm not saying it refers to all degree holders. In a diploma examination, you have to play up to at least 40 minutes of Classical music on a grand piano with 2 examiners (one specialist and one generalist), your whole examination is live recorded for future review, you have to prepare and present 2 copies of programme notes for the examiner's reading, then you'll be tested on your Sight-Reading and lastly, Viva Voce. Sight-Reading is a test where the examiner will place a new piece of music that you have not seen before, mostly a very rare piece and you're expected to play on the spot as perfectly as you can as a performer. Viva Voce is a question-and-answering session where you'll be asked about the history of the instrument you play, the composer's life, the pieces you performed earlier and the technique you used."(4 diploma---there divided a few programme---recital or performance, teaching, composing, conducting. Normally ppl take recital or performance.....the above explanation n process of exam refers to recital or performance.)

"In degree examination, you have to prepare thesis, do assignments, take a written test in a big hall with all the other candidates and perform a recital in the university's hall. That's it!(there r many subjects offered in music degree...some r electives....eg: essembles, orchestra, vocal, hormonasation, composing, conducting, history, cultural studies, music therapy, phycology, teaching, etc----depends on which university) Please remember this: The university is a place where all kinds of subjects are taught and music is just one of the subjects. Universities do not major in performing but more to academic. Music conservatoires, music academy are truly established solely for the purpose of music education in performing and teaching. The academy or conservatoire have no other subject, only music. Every classroom, teacher, lecturer are only teaching music.Other academic subjects like accountancy, medicine, science, etc...will require students to get the diploma and then advance to degree."
(I would advise u to take both diploma n degree programme at the same time if u are a full time music student. Normally lecturers n teachers in some universities are willing to teach both programme, n they will prepare you 4 both examinations. ------my opinion)

" So, to many people out there, they thought a diploma music is just below a degree in music. Let me tell you this. In music, it is different. Diploma and degree is two separate bodies. If you know a music teacher who is a diploma holder, you'll know now that he/she is majoring in performing on stage as a professional performer. So do not look down on teachers with diploma qualifications. In fact, I'm proud to say that we, the diploma graduates are professional artists."(it depends actually, but it's true that diploma holder is not necessary not as good as a degree holder especially in performing an instrument, sometimes it depends on which examination board(diploma) n which university(degree) ----my own opinion)
